yes I am sure in many cases increases in data can help us evaluate problems with more accuracy but data can be biased it can be problematic and give us a false sense of security that we truly understand a subject ESPECIALLY when its about humans. If we were to open up the floodgates of mass data and incorporate it in this "dataism" scale then I believe it would have to come hand in hand with a greater emphasis of people to people relationships. Basically what I am saying is that if i were to look at a community that i know nothing about and parse out my understanding of them purely through data, you bet i will not truly understand them the same way as if i had spent my actual time living with them and interacting with them, having the community teach me about themselves.

Are ideals meant to be questioned or are they platonic/base truths? How far down can we reason for "reasons" until we get to this kind of statement, that something is an ideal in itself?
Amy, what an incredible breakdown of the challenges faced when teaching synchronously via zoom. Teachers who have mastered their classrooms are clearly up against HUGE challenges and have to learn and master a whole new way of teaching. However, now with the added layer between teachers and students via Zoom or any other platform, this challenge cannot be faced by teachers alone. Tool makers are a crucial part of bettering and providing functionality that will ease and enhance online teaching. Every teacher, I'm sure had a unique system in their classroom. I think niche tools could be useful for catering to specific teaching modes. However, this also sets up a challenge for students to then have to learn the ins and outs of a new tool.

I have encountered many thought pieces arguing how the internet and virtuality has allowed many people to feel more free. Again, teachers relinquish control when using zoom. However, in this situation , it is interesting that you point out that zoom has transferred this particular control away from teachers to the hands of students. Super interesting point here Amy!

This happens because theres an added extra layer between students and the teacher. With this layer there is control that is relinquished because the difficulty of completing a task (grouping students) is raised, and that task was once more simply achieved.

Completely agree. There is also the weird that happens in video chat where if one person is talking the audio for someone else is drowned out. It is a huge barrier to a flowing conversation.
